This three-day face-to-face training course, offered in conjunction with the Marketing Institute of Singapore, is based on the texts (Event Management and Festival and Special Event Management) written by its presenters which are used in colleges and universities internationally, as well as by event professionals.
Attended to date by over 4000 people in 10 countries, including Singapore where it is in its 10th year, the course assumes no prior knowledge of event management. Its participants have included: in-house event organisers from some of the world’s largest corporations; staff from business and public event production companies, government agencies/departments, tourism bodies, NGOs and charities; and individuals seeking to develop careers in the area.
The number and type of events conducted in Singapore has grown exponentially over the past decade. This growth has resulted from governments seeking to leverage events for economic purposes, along with an expanded recognition of the role events play in areas such as marketing communications, information sharing, organisational learning and community development. Event Training Australia (ETA) has its origins in the recently closed Australian Event Award winning Australian Centre for Event Management (ACEM), University of Technology, Sydney.
ETA was established to continue, and build upon, ACEM’s event training and education legacy. As such, ETA draws on over 20 years of experience in the development of innovative practice-based education and training programs in the event management field. These programs span one-day workshops to Masters level university courses. ETA’s understanding of ‘best practice’ event management is further reflected in its founder’s (Dr Rob Harris) co-authoring of the widely used texts and handbooks – Festival and Special Event Management, Event Management and the Regional Event Management Handbook.
ETA offers organisations the opportunity to upskill their staff involved in the planning and delivery of events through customised one or two-day workshops. These workshops deal with various aspects of the event project planning process, as well as associated areas such as risk management, sustainability planning and accessible event design.
